For the Birds - Bird Seed

Birdseed

Did you know that different birds eat different kinds of seeds?  If you have kids, you know what picky eaters they can be--well they have nothing on birds.  If you've ever watched a blue jay eat at a bird feeder, it is almost comical to watch the way they flick the seeds they don't want out of the way!  Besides their brilliant plumage and graceful flight, it's no wonder so many people enjoy feeding the birds when they carry on with such colorful antics!

We carry many stock mixes of birdseed and have a number of custom mixes developed over the years to suit the needs of various customers.  We have an in-store custom mixer (shown at right)capable of producing a mix that caters to your backyard birds.  We guarantee that our birdseed is clean and free of filler and debris (because we make it all in-house and we reject sub-standard ingredients). Some of our more popular birdseeds are listed below, including the ingredients of the various mixes and the birds that are attracted to them.

After browsing the selection below, if you don't see what you need, please contact us to discuss a custom mix.  We carry a wide variety of seeds and ingredients to ensure the perfect blend for the particular birds in your backyard.

Oiled Sunflower Seeds

The oil from sunflower seeds provides excellent protein for birds.  Also available are sunflower hearts, which are the meat of sunflower seeds, resulting in a waste-free, no-mess feed.

Attracts:
Cardinals, finches, chickadees, blue jays, titmice, woodpeckers, redpolls, and other strong-billed birds.  Sunflower hearts are enjoyed by these and by grosbeaks, juncos, and finches, too.

Striped Sunflower Seeds

Larger grey striped sunflower seeds are a good source of protein for larger birds.

Attracts:
Grosbeaks, blue jays, cardinals, and woodpeckers.

Peanuts in the Shell

These peanuts are not roasted.  Strong-billed birds love to crack them open to get to the meat inside.
